I bought a Complete Jewish Bible, but it only comes in paperback. So I had a nice brown leather cover made from Renaissance Art Leather and it is beautiful. Soft and well made. The printing on the front is deep and classy.
I highly recommend them!

The main gift people Struggle with is that of speaking in tongues. If the gift of tongues is still in operation why then must a person go to language school in order to preach the gospel to another group of people? And so far as a personal prayer language, the pegans before Christ came would make utters in what they called communicating with the gods. Our Lord never copies the Devil it is always the Devil who conterfits. As a person who has experienced the supposed speaking in tongues( which can produce quite an ecstasy) I had to come to the conclusion I was being deceived, which is as a child of God is very concerning. With that said the following are gifts I'm sure most agree may still be in operation.
The gift of wisdom corresponds to the virtue of charity.
The gift of understanding corresponds to the virtue of faith.
The gift of counsel (right judgment) corresponds to the virtue of prudence.
The gift of courage corresponds to the virtue of fortitude.
The gift of knowledge corresponds to the virtue of faith.
The gift of piety corresponds to the virtue of justice.
The gift of fear of the Lord corresponds to the virtue of hope.

I am confused. One comment says the Apolgetics Study Bible is incorrect another review seems to lean toward th HCSB. I need an apologetics based Bible that is complete and will aid me in teaching my congregation how to intelligently stand against the unorthodox "christian" views, and to adequately address Buddhism, Islam etc. I need a good Apologetics Study Bible that will give me, from a Biblical standpoint of view, a good source that will equip me adequately to be able to intelligently, spiritually, philosophically and Scripturally answer those other beliefs and to challenge lovingly their beliefs. Does such a translation or Study Bible exist

Hey Robert,

Do you have a picture that shows a comparison of the HCSB ultrathin reference Bible compared to the HCSB Legacy large print? I am curious because I am trying to decide which one to purchase. Is there a difference in thickness?

Comment on To Tithe or Not to Tithe that is the question by Gary Arnold

Do any church leaders teach that we should follow Abraham's example of tithing? Pagan spoils of war. Kept nothing for himself. No example of Abraham ever tithing on his own income or wealth.

Exactly what part of Abraham's example of tithing are we supposed to follow?

If you study Hebrews 7, you will see that in Hebrews 7:18 the law (commandments, ordinances) was disannulled. What law was disannulled? It has to be Numbers 18. Numbers 18 is ONE law made up of many ordinances which established the Levitical priesthood, including how it would be financed - by the tithe. Since Numbers 18 is disannulled, the tithe was disannulled.

Now to use Abraham as an example of tithing is being dishonest. Pagan spoils of war. Kept nothing for himself. No example of Abraham tithing on any of his prior wealth or income. No church leaders teach that example.

Another point - giving to a church is NOT giving to God. Jesus made it clear that giving to the poor is giving to Him. Nowhere in God's Word does God tell us that giving to a christian church is giving to Him. To the contrary. When Paul asked for collections it was for the poor, NOT for the church.

The Biblical tithe was NEVER on anything that man made or earned. It always came from God's increase. God DEFINED His tithe in Leviticus 27:30-33. He gave instructions in Numbers 18 to take His tithe to the Levities - an ordinance FOR EVER.

IF it is The Lord's tithe, giving it to a christian church would be disobeying God's instructions.

There is nothing wrong with giving ten percent of one's income to the church if that is what the person wants to do. But it should NOT be confused with the Biblical tithe which could ONLY be food from crops and animals, and ONLY from the Holy Land.
